Intel i3-2100 Vs Pentium Dual-Core G620

Core i3-2100 Vs Pentium G620 Basic Differences Core i3-2100 Vs Pentium G620 benchmark Core i3-2100 Vs Pentium G620 Advance Differences

The Intel i3-2100 and the Pentium G620 are both dual-core processors comes under desktop segment. Also, both processors are built through the latest Sandy Bridge architecture, but Pentium G620 is much cheaper than the double priced 2nd generation Intel Core i3-2100 processor. G620 is successor and released in May 2011 over its predecessor Intel Core i3-2100 that was released in February 2011.

Here, Pentium Dual-Core G620 processor is clocked at 2.6 GHz and the Intel i3-2100 is clocked at 3.1 GHz. Both processors’ Bus Speed is similar with 5 GT/s DMI. Both processors’ cores are accessing similar cache too as 3 MB smart cache and 512KB L2 cache. Another important similarity is TDP that is with 65 Watts. Enhanced Speed Step technology is enabled in both processors for the low power consumption.

Advanced Vector Extensions are available with the Intel Core i3-2100 along with HyperThreading technology, but mentioned both features are disabled in the Pentium Dual-Core G620 processor to reduce its price to half. Similarly, there are few more similar features with both processors such as MMX Instructions set, Extended Memory 64 Technology, Execute Disable Kit, and Virtualization Technology.

There are some of the similar on-chip peripherals with both processor such as Dual-Channel Memory Controller, Direct Media Interface, PCI Express 2.0 Interface, and HD Graphics controller. Also, data width 64-bit and Maximum Operating temperature 69.1 are same in both processors. Manufacturing process with both processors is same through the 0.032 micron High-K metal gate process.

Integrated memory controller and graphics controllers are arranged in both processors. Here, integrated graphics controller runs from 850 MHz to 1100 MHz for both processors. Both processors’ memory controllers are capable enough to support DDR3 memory.

The Intel i3-2100 and Pentium Dual-Core G620 are almost similar, except two or three differences. Mainly, Pentium G620 is priced almost at the half rate of the Intel Core i3-2100 processor and this is making this processor a wise choice for the low cost desktops.
