Sony Vaio  VPCF236FM/B Laptop review

The VAIO VPCF236FM/B is a powerful notebook for enterprise and high end computing needs. The notebook is powered by Intel's core i7-2670QM - the quad core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz (It has a turbo boost feature that can raise its clock to 3.1 GHz for short duration).

The $1199 price tag may be be slightly higher for home users but is less than many of the Apple's notebook that come with entry level processors.

You get the trusted Vaio brand from Sony.  This 16.4 inch laptop's graphics is driven by the GeForce GT 540M graphic which will allow you to play most modern fast moving games. It will also allow you to smoothly run many of the graphics intensive applications ( Like Solid Works, CAD / CAM).

Targeted for high end users, the notebook features 750GB Hard Disk, Blu-ray disc/DVD combo. If you want internet mobility y you can use Intel 4G WiMax.

The faster processor and the graphics eats up the battery life and with the  5000.0 mAh battery it  offers less than 4 hours battery life. The notebook is a little heavy with 6.9 lbs.

The Intel Core i7 2670QM that powers this notebook is a fast quad-core processor under Clarksfield. Best buy says about the processor that it is - "Features 8-way processing", which is nothing but the Hyperthreading support. Each core allows two thread to be run simultaneously by taking advantage of the inefficiency at the software.

The processor comes with 6 MB of L3 Cache. Rated slightly higher ( 45 Watts TDP) for thermal heating, this notebook requires some decent cooling arrangement and this is one reason why its is slightly heavu.

Pros:

- High end quad core processor.
- Has Blu Ray player ( in case you use it).
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M for high end gaming.
- 2 USB 3.0 Ports for faster data transfer.
