Toshiba Satellite L755D-S5279 - AMD A6-3400M

Toshiba's Satellite L755D-S5279 is the latest high end processor powered by AMD's A6-3400M processor that AMD prefers to call Accelerated Processing Unit - a name given to the chip that combines the processor and the graphics unit. The notebook powered by this processor that uniquely combines the high processing power with graphics capability while keeping the cost down wit the merger of functinality of two chips in a single chip. Many common user still call it processor and there seems to be nothing really fundamentally wrong with that - except that this processor will also have the power to execute graphics instructions.

In the Toshiba Satellite L755D-S5279 review we will cover the processor, the display and the other ports available. First the processor. The AMD AMD A6-3400M is a quad core processor that is clocked at 1.4 GHz. If you think that this clock rate is low, wait !!!. The processor can overclock it to 2.3 GHz - as and when there is a requirement. AMD calls it turbo clocking. There are several advantages to the turbo clocking. You do not always need high processing power all the times. In fact most of the times ( more than 90%) you need to work on low processing power. Then why should you generate huge heat when do can do without it.

And when you do need small busrt of high processing power the processor ramps up its frequency to 2.3 GHz. With 4 cores this is a decent power.

The processor has 4 MB of level 2 cache. The Super Pi 1M benchmarking takes 36 seconds with this processor.

Toshiba Satellite L755D-S5279 used LED backlighting and has 15.6 inch screen. The LED backlighting has become more or less - a standard in most of the notebooks replacing the earlier CCFL technology. This offers more efficiency, better lighting and clearer picture.

The notebook comes with wired and wireless ports, webcam and pretty much everything that a modern notebook comes with. It has ample 4 GB RAM and we dont think you need to extent it to 8 GB, except if you are reallu doing very large video processing.

The 320GB of HDD is standard. The display has a resolution of 1366x768. The battry life is a little less than 4 Hours and is great for mobility.
